Hi,

I hope someone here can help me resolve this problem, its really annoying the hell out of me. I have an ATI TV Wonder VE tv tuner card. When I launch the player to watch TV or go into the setup menu eventually (sometimes it happens right away other times after a few minutes) I get the following error message:

'ATIMMC has caused an general protection fault in module essolo.drv.'

ATIMMC is ATI multimedia centre, the software that came with the tv tuner card and essolo is referring to my sound card driver. I have re-installed the software and I just re-installed the driver for the sound card. I am still getting the error message but this time after re-installing the driver it did not come up until after a few minutes. I thought the problem was fixed but I guess not. I am not sure what the problem is.

I have Windows 98 and this is the newest driver I can find for my sound card (ESS Solo-1 PCI Audiodrive) so I don't think changing the driver is an option. Everything else works fine (referring to sound card here- can listen to music, joystick is fine, etc.) except when I try to watch TV. One final thing- after the message comes up the sound can still be heard but the video freezes up as does the whole application.

Anyone out there have a clue as to what is wrong??

Hey, i know it's frustrating with a harder question..nobody answers my posts either-stay cool.
Although i havent used a PC for a while, and therefore can't remember *specifically* the steps to take, it's likely an interrupt conflict..protection faults are when two different programs try to access the same memory location- not good.
The problem with plug'n'play is that it assigns these things automatically at startup, and doesn't always get it right..
There should be a setting in control panels/system/devices for the video card where you see settings and a dialog box that says 'no conflicts' or conversely 'driver conflict' ..there's also a few interrupts and addresses listed above in a little window..
try picking different ones..you may have to experiment- if it says theres a conflict keep trying until it no longer says so, but there may be one even if it doesn't say so, as the interrupts the TV uses aren't active at startup, but only after you activate the TV...
I'm sorry i can't remember more, but it's been a while..
Frankly, it's because of stuff like this that i ended up using my mac all the time instead :)
