I'm trying to install both a TV Tuner card and a video card, and I think the TV Tuner card is also a video card. However, the port on it for a monitor doesn't fit my monitor cable. It plugs into the AGP slot. I got it from a friend, used, and the card is all it came with. He got it from some spare parts his uncle had, and I need to know how to install it. Its in the computer, but when Windows installs it, it designates it as a display adapter and shows up in device manager with an error saying that it doesn't have multiple display support. Is there a way I can get this to work properly, as in at least get multiple display support so that the TV Tuner feature of the card will function?

Also, I'd like to add that it is from 3DFX Interactive, and the TV Tuner part is from Phillips.

Best thing to do is look it up on their website and read the specs. Some are combination video / tv tuner cards and some are just tv tuner cards. If your monitor won't plug in, then chances are it's a tv tuner card and the jacks are for svideo etc. You need to install the proper drivers for it. You can download them on their site. Good Luck.

If the card goes into an AGP slot then it is a graphics card, which may or may not have a TV tuner.

Did you remove a different graphics card in order to install this card? I am trying to determine if you have a MBoard with integrated graphics or not. Once this is sorted out you should be able to use that card. The reason your monitor won't connect is that you have an analog monitor and the card has DVI port on the back. You should be able to buy an adapter which will allow you to connect your monitor. Your friends uncle probably already has one. One thing I don't understand is where your monitor is currently connected so that you have something on the screen. Do you currently have a PCI based graphics card in this machine?

Yeah, its plugged into a PCI graphics card because it doesn't have an on-board port. And as for the driver, I believe the manufacturer went bottoms up a couple of years ago and no longer have anything on their site but a search engine.

If it is plugged into a PCI slot then it isn't an AGP card.

>_< The TV tuner card is an AGP card and the video card I'm using is a PCI card. They are two separate cards, both plugged in because my monitor won't hook up to the TV tuner card.

If it is an AGP card then it is first and formost a VIDEO CARD. This VIDEO CARD may or may not have TV tuner capability. Is that clear?

...it has a TV tuner...

My problem is not determining whether it is a video card or not, because I was already fairly sure that was what it was. My problem is getting the TV tuner part to work and hopefully I can still use the PCI card to watch it all with, so that I can save money on that adapter. Besides that, I don't know where to find a driver.

I know 2 things for sure:

1. It is a TV Tuner card.
2. I would like to get it and the PCI video card to both work at the same time, so that I can use the AGP video card for its TV Tuner.

If the system is working with the card in place then download a utility called Everest Home Edition. This may tell you what card this is. Once you know that use Google to search for drivers and possible capture software. Find Everest home here: http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en

What do you mean that didn't fix it. Did you use Everest? What did it say about the display?

Like I said, I accidentally posted that in the wrong topic. Disregard it, as I haven't finished downloading Everest to try it yet.

Alright, thanks to that program (I love it, thanks man!) I found out what card it is. Here's a whole page about the card:

http://www.hardwarezone.com/reviews/video/v3-3500TV/v3-3500tv.html

Unfortunately, it came with CDs that had all kinds of utilities and stuff on it as well as some other parts, and all I got was the card itself. I can probably get the hardware, but does anyone feel like helping me find a place to download everything I need for it?

Take a look over here for help with that card. http://www.videohelp.com/
I will say that I wouldn't pende too much time on that card. Tuner cards have come a long way since then. You can get a decent card for little cash and you will get some software with it. If all you care about is viewing TW in real time just find the drivers and I think the card will work.

He sold it to me for just 5 bucks, so I just thought it would be fun to play with.
