I am trying to figure out how to install Win'95 from cab files. I was trying to install Win'95 from scratch to help clean up the original installation. I copied all the cab files to the D: partition and formatted the C:. I am now having a problem installing Windows back on from the cab files. Is there a way to do this? I don't have a cdrom on the machine to install windows from the CD. Please help!

If the cab files are all there then you should just have to go to the set up file and double click. It should install.

How did you get the cab files on your hard drive if you do not have the cd rom to copy it from?
This what I do, I format the drive and make the directory name WIN98, change the directory to win98 and copy the content of the win98 folder of the cd to this win98 folder on your hard drive and just type setup.

so, ask a friend to copy to floppies the remaining files of the folder where the cab files were. That will work.

Win95A (20 cab files)is an extra 18 files which fit in 1 floppydisk

Win95B (28 cab files)is an extra 29 files, total 7,5 MB. One of them is 5.5MB, it must be zipped and spanned.

You can also use the win98 bootfloppy for your win95 machine. Ask a friend. At booting it will install drivers so that you can use your cdrom.

I originally copied the whole Cabs directory, but I do not see the setup files. These were cab files that existed on the hard drive when I purchased the pc from HP. Like I mentioned above, I dont have a cdrom to use to install from my Win'95 cd.
