Specs: Windows Vista
Is there an easy way to connect a windows 98 computer with no wireless adapter to the internet using a linksys e1000 router?

You should be able to get a wireless dongle for W98 if you google around long enough. This plugs into a USB socket on a cable and is a transmitter/receiver.

I don't think it has to match your router.

My ole Win98 uses a Belkin device (in the UK).

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I'm not sure if it isnt something more simple. It used to be connected to a 2wire router modem just fine but it wont do anything at all for my new uverse modem or the linksys e1000 router that came with it. Could it be a network adapter problem? I dont need it to be wireless. Just wondering why it is not working like it is.

Sorry, I went off at a tangent and assumed it was a wireless router.

Does your network adapter show in Control Panel > Networks (or whatever it is in W98)?

In Device Manager are there any errors showing under Network adapters?
