I have two hard drives!Drive C attachments are:-cd-rom/Cdrive/and then mother board.Drive D has :-Ddrive/mother board.I tried to attach cdrw to drive D but it just tells me that it cannot detect drives it just brings up the computer screen with del on it.On the cdrw it is set to slave,I tried changing it to the master but still nothing.Anyone help me?(also on the diagram with the cdrw it shows attachments going from Cdrive/Ddrive/mother board and thne cdrw/cd-rom/mother board.Should I try hooking everything up the way the diagram shows me,or would that make conflicts????.Not real clever yet with names but know how to follow instructions lol thanks and eagerly awaiting reply:)

Amber,
Your message isn't clear. What do you mean that your Drive C "Attachments" are cd-rom, CDrive and motherboard?
The CD-rom and motherboard are hardware devices not attachments.
Your C Drive (Assuming that has the OS) should be primary Master, connected to the Primary IDE on your Motherboard. Do you physically have two individual harddrives, or just one with two partitions? Your CD can be either Primary Slave on the motherboard, Secondary master, or secondary slave.
Your question (?) is unclear and very confusing. You need to be more clear on what exactly it is you're asking.

I am so sorry lol I mean the IDE flat cable that attaches them all to-gether.I have two physical hard drives. The diagram to follow instructions shows IDE Hard disc drive1/IDE disk drive (2) then onto Primary IDE Connector. Then there is next to them a pic of IDE CD REWRITER/cd-rom/Secondary IDE Connector "/" meaning IDE flat cable.

on the diagram it has all the above in the last message, but my pc right now has cd-rom/IDE hard drive1/mother board, and then IDE hard disk2/motherboard.
I needed to know if it would be safe to change everything so as to follow the insructions on my cdrw diagram? I didnt know I could join Cdrive and Ddrive then onto mother board. So I wanted to ask before attempting it.Sorry for the long dragged out way of asking lol amber:)

Amber, if you change the D: drive to something else, Windows may lose track of where to find the data on it. The registry currently has info pointing to the D drive, and if you change it to E or F, it'll confuse the registry. Your best bet would be to leave all of the drive designations as they are, jumper the CD-RW as slave, and install it on the secondary IDE cable, along with your D: drive. It should get assigned drive letter F and everything should work OK.
Hope this helps.
Dave
