Norton decected a trojan horse.exe
I quarentined then deleted the file.

I had this J.mcgrath.exe saved on my computer.I have had this file forever. This is the one that was infected. Honestly I don't even remember what it was. Just one of those novelty type programs.
My question is. Was this program always a Trojan or did the trojan get to it? Could the trojan still be lerking around? Norton didn't dectect any viruses once deleted. Why is this program all of a sudden infected? I scan regularly.

I researched how one might get a trojan. One was a fake login. My daughter was a nickalodean trying to registar and login. She was aggrevated that when she would try to sumbit it. It didn't do anything. She also installed some rugrat screen saver things. AUGH!
Anyway, this is the latest stuff done on my computer. But I suppose it could have been hanging around for along time.

One problem that may have resulted from this is. When I reboot. Norton says it is unable to load the email protection. Make sure my TCP/IP is installed.
How do I check this or install it?

Sorry about the terrible spelling and wording of that message. Should have previewed it.
The only excuse I have is I am tired and my eyes are crossing. The darn flu!

some trojans have the ability to duplicate themselves upon deletion. But it really depends on what type of trojan it is. If Norton detected it before, and doesn't now, I don't think there's anything worth worrying about. As for the inability to load the email protection, I doubt it is related to the trojan.

Anti virus software doesnt always detect trojans, but as the previous message tag suggested if it detected a problem before and now it doesnt then all is probably ok.

A 'anti trojan' shareware program THE CLEANER is good to scan and clean your system and elimanate any if you do have any trojans. Sorry havent got a note of the website.

Hope this helps some.
