I would like to transfer files from my old computer (WIN95) to my new computer (XP Pro) using a parallel port transfer cable. I've connected the cable to LPT1 on both computers but not sure what to do next. Appreciate any helpful advise.

There is an application included with Windows called Direct-Cable Connection that should do the job. Only downside is that it might not be included with WinXP. Another problem is that the software might not be able to connect between the two windows machines, due to differences in port and software settings.
Another thing is that this type of transfer will be VERY slow. If it is possible it would be faster, and easier, to network the two machines together through LAN cards and a crossover cable.
