I heard that there is a program that allows one to transfer the C drive to a new HD, with all the files and programs, including the operational system and even the boot sector. Does somebody know its name and where can I get it?

Hi,

Symantec Ghost or Acronis Drive Image.

Take your pick

Both have excellent reputations and will do this very easily.

On Windows 98 FE or SE you would be better advised to do a clean install on a new hard disk.

Then install your old hard disk as a slave device and transfer data file across.

You may have to consider whether your BIOS will accept a larger hard disk of whatever size you are planning to use.

Most hard disk manufacturers supply (freeware) utilities for this. If you know what make hard disk you have....

Disk Diagnostic Tools, major manufacturers
