I won't call you a control freak.
There are spyware type programs that you can install on your computer. As I advocate privacy, I'll not recommend any of these.
I have two teenage kids with their own computers. To keep track on their surfing habits, I occasionally take a look at the router's log. Then I'll stand outside their bedroom door and ask about a site they are on or have recently visited. This creates an illusion that I know about everything they are doing. In fact the log can last as little as five minutes before being dumped and restarted. The kids don't know that! I also have the ability of receiving the logs by email when they are full. That sounds too much like a chore, so I don't bother.
