I just bought one of these notebooks on eBay. It's the first notebook I've ever bought.
This notebook comes with WINXP pre-installed. I have a 1G Desktop PC with WIN98SE.
I would like to know if it is possible to remove XP and install 98SE. If so, how? How difficult?
I have clean installed 98SE on an older PC and on my current PC. Do I need a special Notebook Version of 98SE, or can I use my normal copy?
Will there be any conflicts/problems internally in the notebook by switching these OSes?
Remember, I am an Absolute Novice with Notebooks. My brother always carries around Rescue Disks & Boot Disks & CDs, etc, etc, etc. Is this necessary or just paranoia? (I don't think he's ever had to use them).
My notebook comes with a lot of pre-installed software, some of which I might like to keep, but I could live without it if what I end up having to do is fDisk (or some-such).
Any advice would be much appreciated, just PLEASE, go easy with the Technical wordage & acronyms! I'm not afraid to make a few screwups, I think it's one of the better ways to learn . . . I just want to avoid any major one's that might be lurking in the shadows.
Thanks
MIKE

Just format it and install w98.You may need some drivers (video, modem) that are not on the Win98se cd, you can download these at www.toshiba.com.
You can probaly also download the pre-installed toshiba software there.
