I have a Toshiba 205CDS Satellite laptop. While it was being used the batteries went dead. Now after recharging the batteries, or with no batteries at all, the computer won't boot. The hard dis "chatters" for about 1 second, then stops. It also will not boot to the 3.5" floppy.

Say, my satellite 115cs has the same problem as your 205cds did- it won't boot!
Did you figure your problem out?
If you did, could you let me know what to do?
Thanks,
Jerry Bybee

Did you get your Toshiba Satellite 205CDS figured out? If not give me a holler.
Thanks,
Eric Gildersleeve

Looks like I'm in the same boat.
My toshiba satellite is doing the same thing.
I'd appreciate some help if you have figured out the problem.
Thanks

Yes, I have a Toshiba Satellite. 115Cs and it has the same problem.
I disconnected the power cord from the laptop. Then I removed the battery from the case. Without the battery, I connect the power cord with the laptop and power it on.
It works and then I turn off the power and put back the battery pack.
Many times, it works.

My understanding is that the Toshiba laptop needs the battery even if it's operating off AC current - somehow the battery is in the circuit at all times. If the battery is missing or completely, totally toasted then the computer won't even boot up.
Big pain - I have a 1910 I'd like to use just plugged into the wall for word processing and such, but the battery's fried so it won't work. New batteries are around $100 - too much to spend on an obsolete computer. Anyone found a work-around for this?

my dad had the same problem with his Toshiba Satellite 4015cds. it wouldn't start at all, so i took out the battery and plugged it just now and it works. thanks guys. but what happend to the battery?

I had this problem...fought it for two days straight, had an appointment to take it in to the shop, and then I tried one last thing. I had a 64mg and a 128mg memory module in it, I removed one, and it booted up right away. then i shut it down and re-added the other memory, and it worked fine. Something about removine one module made it "wake up". and it has been OK ever since.

Me too! My PC T1960CS is on
the "blinks". Took it to:
#1 We Fix Em $56.00 (sorry-can't fix).
#2 We Fix Any PC $75.00 (sorry-
cost,not worth to fix).
#3 No Pc Too Tuff For Us $110.00 (sorry-needs new PA2420UXRA main
battery).
#4 PC Nice Guys $ n/c (WELL, I think ol'e Mrs Mother Board is shot).
.... I am a WWII DAV vet and
at 82 years old. I am not in a
position to get a new unit nor
would I be sure I could still
be able to think well enough to
run one of the darned things!!!
Help - do you figure mine can be
a "born again PC"?
Charley

Our Toshiba laptop won't boot up either; will only open in "safe mode"? Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

My Venerable Adams Green573 wouldn't boot either - I followed your suggestion of taking the battery out and using the main supply and eh! Presto!
Nice one! who said the internet wasn't useful?
Profuse thanks....

Any one who has a laptop that wont boot, just email me and I will buy it off of you. Just give me a reasonable price

J'ai un toshiba T4800CT et il a un mot de passe avant de booter donc je ne peux rien faire .
J'aimerais savoir comment faire pour enlever se mot de passe et pouvoir me servir de mon prtable S.V.P.
Merci
