Ok, I've downloaded a torrent file completely, but I can't play it on any media system (I prefer to use DivX Player). I get pop ups saying that the file should be in avi format. Is there any way of converting a .torrent file to a .avi file?

I dont think you understood the concept of bittorrent torrent files. The .torrent files are not the real file u want it is a link to that file and u need a software to download from that link like Bittorrent or Bittornado(Recommended) make a google search or goto http://bittornado.com/ to download the bittornado software.

Need anymore help reply here.

Yes, I understand that. Usually after my torrent file download, it makes the copy of an avi for me to play, but this time, it just made it's own little folder, and when I go into it, it says "CD1" and "CD2" (Two seperate folders inside of the original folder). When I go into those folders, it's just a bunch of the same WinRAR files, and they don't include any kind of playable file at all.

Actually, it says .sfv as the file type inside of the "CD 1" folder. I've never even heard of that before. Of course, I've tried playing it, but it doesn't play.

Use winrar to extract the rar files, they should extract into a playable format or possibly an ISO disk image which you will either need to mount using something like Virtual CD or burn to CD/DVD

Well, I extracted the files, and it came out as two seperate files: vcd-(name here).bin and vcd-(name here).cue

Any idea what these files types are...?

Off the top of my head i think these are CLONE CD cd image files as nero image files are .nrg, i could be wrong however as I don`t use that programme myself. I will look into it tonight for you

BIN/CUE files (files that have a suffix .BIN and .CUE) are often found on the Internet and commonly created using CDRWIN by Golden Hawk. But it would we a bit of a waste of money and disk space to buy 2 CD-writer programs, specially when the one you've got (Nero) can do it all.

more detials on how to burn them here:

So you have to burn them just to be able to play them? I'd rather watch it once on the PC as a downloaded program, then delete it :p

download a small prog called isobuster from here...

http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster

It will convert bin & iso files back into "normal" files. In your case a media file. Then play from hard disk as usual.

Incidentally the sfv file within the "rar" files folder is just to check the rar files are of the correct length etc if I remember rightly.

I forgot..ignore the cue file in the above instance...the bin file is the actual file to be converted. (the cue file is a small "reference" file to help nero etc burn the bin (proper)file correctly..(& you would point nero to the cue file if burning...but the bin file would be the file that was burned..etc etc etc..well U did ask :¬\

Thank you guys for all the help so far. I downloaded IsoBuster, but I have no idea how to use it. It only gives me the option to open "Image Files", and when I try to open my .sfv file in the "cd 1" folder, IsoBuster just says that the file is unreadable.

I know it's asking a lot, but perhaps you could tell me how to work this thing? I can't seem to figure it out...

Ignore the sfv file.

You've already extracted the rar files into the bin/cue files. Now you need to convert the bin file using isobuster...

Run isobuster. Choose that option to open image files & point it to the extracted .bin file..ie "vcd-(name here).bin" (as you stated)

You should then see a red & a blue icon. Right click on one of these & choose extract. (or convert...can't remember)...it should then convert the .bin file for you into it's original form.

The above is assuming isobuster hasn't changed since my download..if all else fails..experiment :¬)

Well, extracting from IsoBuster didn't seem to do anything, but something that I must have done using it was bring out another folder called "VideoCD" Inside it has 3 more folders, "Ext", "Mpeg2", and "Svcd". The only large file in a playable format is the one inside of folder "Mpeg2", and it's named "Avseq01". It SHOULD play, but for some reason it still says that it's an unreadable file. The extension of the file is said to be ".MPG", so I don't understand what the problem is. I even extracted it using IsoBuster, but it didn't seem to change the file. I'm trying to extract the file using a different method as we speak, but unless I post below this post saying that I've gotten it to work, it hasn't worked yet... :p

ok, do search for prog called Gspot (if you caan`t find i9t mail me and i`ll mail it to you, its not big) and drag the file into it.

Gspot should tell you what the filetype should be and also if its corrupted or not.

Well, I dragged the file named "Avseq01" into GSpot, and it just says "Size: 780 MB" and the rest is filled out as "file unknown" and "n.a.".

I dragged the .bin file into GSpot, and it also just says "n.a" in the sections, listing the file size as 781 MB.

I've downloaded other things since this file. I'd post the site, but it's "illegal" to do so here I suppose. Anyways, all of the other files that I downloaded are similar to my first files, in that they all have the RAR files and the .sfv, but they had a .avi file instead of a .bin file in the RAR file, and the .avi file is what works fine. So... I guess I'll just try re-downloading my first file and hope that it comes out with a .avi file this time.

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to post, otherwise, thanks for all your help. At least I know what I'm looking for now :)

Hey guys I also had the problem with fahrenheit 9/11 but I managed to fix it!!!
Only problem is a few mistakes in the files so sometimes the movie doesn't continue...

You need to download VCDGEAR v3.55 don't ask me where to.
What you do is you open the CD1 folder you have and you selec your first .rar file that is in it. Then you extraxt it to a new folder. What you have then is two files a .bin and .cue file.

Know you open the VCDgear and you can see a list at the left.
There you need to select (Extraction/Conversion) Bin [Disk image] ---> mpeg file

Then go in the line under it and load the .bin file you extracted.
Then you just need to give a saving place and click on start.

It will convert your file to a .mpeg file and you can watch it from your PC!

Problem solved :)
I just managed it myself to play and I found out this all just within 2 hours...I'm the best ;)

If still having any troubles mail me at Pieter.Goris@pandora.be

Greetz

PS: Let me know if it worked plz! Thanks

Sorry guys my mistake I forgot to tell you something.
You also need to download VIDEOLAN player from http://www.download.com (search for Videoland) to play that .mpg file
You can only play it with that player. It has something to do with the file size I read somewhere ... but you will see it will work because videoland doesn't work with those annoying codecs! Never again!

Hello.
My movie torrent file gives me CD1 and CD2 folders also.
Do I have to download the whole torrent file in order to play it, or can I just play the part I've downloaded?
