I've got a little problem - hoping someone out there can help me. My friend has a VERY old laptop and has a bunch of pictures on it she wants off of there. I got it up and running, but cannot connect anything to it to pull the pictures off. CD burner locks it up and it won't recognize my thumb drives or my Maxtor external hard drive. It sees these things if they are plugged into the USB port before booting, but can't find drivers for them. If I plug them in after booting, they don't show up at all. I tried searching for drivers online and found some I thought would be helpful, but can't get them onto the laptop. I put them on floppies and it can open the floppies, but won't let me copy from them (the system cannot read from the specified device, or it gives me a copy error). I tried putting them on a CD, but the CD drive won't recognize the CD I have just burned. So I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do at this point and hoped someone could help me out. I didn't dream that my thumb drives and my external hard drive wouldn't work! Someone help! Thank you.

Does the laptop have networking capability? If so, try using a crossover cable to connect to another computer. What about internet access?

No, it doesn't have internet capability or networking capability. That's what's so frustrating about it! I could easily hook it up to my computer and it would be so simple! I'm just not sure what else to do with it!
