Comment:

When booting my IBM Thinkpad 755c I get this message: "Error 00161, Error 00163". What that means is that I have to adjust time and date, but not through the usual Windows 9x menu, but through some weird, oldlooking menu (itīs not BIOS but some kind of non windows-ish graphics).

After adjusting time and date the computer boots just fine and everything works as normal.

Does anyone know whatīs wrong? Please help me out - itīs kind of annoying to do this every time I start the computer...

The bios settings in these machines ARE "old windowish graphics" I'm sure that some error is dumping you into the bios setup, and that you probably have low or bad bios battery. I believe that on those machines, the bios battery is under the floppy drive. There may be TWO batteries--one is to take care of sleep functions while you are hot swapping the main battery, and the other is for bios (cmos)
