Is there a way to shrink the size of a WAV file, but still by keeping it as a WAV so I can still burn to CD-R? if so how, thanks jim

There's a freeware program called WaveZIP at www.download.com which might fit the bill.

Wavezip is a great program BUT it only works WAVES. the files stored on your CD differ slightly from waves as they do not contain a header. Also Wavezip does compression and decompression on the fly. You can't use this for the CDA files on a CD.
The answer is no you must use a 44.1Khz 16bit stereo wave for burning an audio CD.
