It is my roommates computer. She has a dual boot system. Most of the software only works on Windows 95 (at least properly). She wants to just have windows 95 on her drives, but is scared that cd-rom will not work then. It would recognize it in Dos, but windows would not see the cd rom prior to installing windows 98. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You need to install the drivers for it. The reason it works in Win98 is because it's newer and there for it supports most of the CD-Roms. If you don't have the drivers, find out what brand and the speed it is by looking at the label on it, then do a search on the drivers for that CD-Rom and install. If you don't know how to install it, the web page you get the drivers from should help you. Did this help?
