Take a look at this one. It more than backs up...it can re-create everything when you crash by just "going back in time" to an earlier time when there were no problems. A free download (which expires)is available at the site. www.goback.com BTW, its at Best Buy for about 40.00 Here is what they say about the program.....
Why go back in time?

at 7:20 you installed new software and at 7:35 nothing worked, including the uninstall at 7:40 (things got worse), so wouldn't you like to go back to 7:20?

at 9:15 you started making major changes to a document, and at 9:50 accidentally overwrote the original (which you need), so wouldn't you like to pop back to 9:15 for a moment?

today you downloaded something from the net, and now you've got a virus, so wouldn't you like to go back to yesterday?

at this moment you're on an airplane three hours into flight and you did an "oops" (a big one), and the portable crashed and won't boot, so wouldn't you like to go back five minutes?

and this is a really big because, you don't always have a backup when you need it, so wouldn't you like to go back anyway?

Why is this important?
from the everyday "oops" that occurs from user error or software problems, to virus attacks, system crashes or unexplained software problems, it is inevitable that your computer will give you trouble.

But now there is no reason to suffer the frustration that normally follows. With GoBack, you can go back to the time when your PC worked! GoBack is such a simple solution to a whole host of problems that we feel it is the missing piece of your operating system.

Why risk a data loss disaster? Start protecting all your hours of hard work since your last backup!

For short term (say 48-72 hours coverage)you cannot beat GoBack. After the first time it saves your bacon without hours of frustration to patch things up, you too will become an enthusastic booster of this marvelous program. I would go so far as to say as many as half the troubles I see posted on trouble boards could have been avoided if the posters had had GoBack in place. For long term storage you can call me old fashioned, but you cannot beat a good tape backup system for the money. I happen to use an HP 8GB unit. Do not confuse mass storage units with backup programs. Mass storage (CD Writers, Zip drives etc.) cannot restore Registry settings as tape is able to do. If you just want to back up the Registry use the freebie Emergency Manager, but the far better bet is the GoBack and tape drive combo IMHO.

Sorry guys if, I got a little carried away with the info from the Go-Back site, but it has curred what I refer to as "brother-in-law syndrome" I've reloaded his system many times, after he "tweeked" his system, or crashed it after losding some program. I had heard about go back, and told him he had to buy the program..and that it was going to cost him less that what I was going to start charging him to re-load. BTW, he lives 1 hour away. The program worked just like it promised. He has had a few mini-crashes since, but this program has saved me many re-loading trips. Steve asked about programs, I told him about the one I have found that works. No spam involved.

Hi,
Does any know any backup software out there that can backup LAPTOP to a server? Something that use either NIC card or parallel port. And something that allows restoration from a server to a laptop when the laptop is dead. Thanx ....
