No need to download. Add Hyper Terminal: Control Panel>Add/remove programs>Windows Setup>Communications (details)check Hyper Terminal to install.

Yes, Hyperterminal will work for telnet if they have Windows 98 or have upgraded the Windows 95 version. You could also type telnet into the start/run field and use the one built into windows.
