Seems to have affected your caps lock too.

Lsass.exe indicates the Sasser worm, sure - bit of an unusal error on a 98 machine. Sasser can run on, but not infect Win98.

You can try the removal tool

Are you sure it's not isass.exe?

That's interesting - for sure, there can be a certain amount of confusion with the uppercase "I" and lowercase "l" etc. - but there were a number of references to Lsass.exe and that specific error code (on Google) - although the majority of those were for WinXP

Give me ambiguity or give me something else

Do you keep your AVG updated?

Looks like Sasser worm from googling around, see this:

This should help but it's a tad long winded:

Just to add that I got into the lsass.exe -v- sass.exe too out there. Not so many posts on sass.exe but came away with a strong feeling that this was also Sasser Worm.

Sure - although overwhelmingly those concern XP/NT systems - still, my favourite line there:

"Can a virus go undetected by Norton?"

(Oh yes indeed)

jboy, excellent point... Strange though that the error being received is not normally something seen in ME. All my queries indicated NT, 2000, and XP lsass references when running that particular Error Code Number.

Since pre-NT machines aren't effected in the same way by the Sasser exploit, it was confusing to me that june was receiving this error on a 98 box.

June, you say you're running 98, but is that the OS on the offending machine? Just askin'....

Yes, it would be helpful to confirm the OS in question (and maybe explain that '89% CPU/RAM' spec too)
