All is going fine, however every few days after startup some system setting have been changed. i.e In device manager it will show conflicts or change the printer port from LTP1 to Infrared LTP 2.
Often after a couple reboots the conflicts have been removed and all is back to nornal, then other times the opposite happens.
If anyone could offer any advice it would be very much apprechiated ???
Thanks

I'd have a look at the "resources" tab in Device Manager to see if there is another device on your system that likes to take IRQ 7. The printer port LPT1 is supposed to use IRQ 7. If you find such a device, lock it down to another IRQ that is not taken. Usually 10 and 11 are available, but have a look. Maybe someone else has another suggestion..

I have checked resources and every thing "seems" fine. I also had a look in "System Information/Hardware Resources/IRQ's" and there seems to be quite a few items listed twice, some under different IRQ's. Could this be causing a problem and if so, how do I go about deleting the unwanted ones ?
Thanks

Devices sharing an IRQ is normal, I agree.
But I'm curious by what you mean by "quite a few items listed twice". What items?
Also, if you know how to go into your CMOS set up in the BIOS, have a look in there too. One thing to look for is that it is Plug and Play O/S is set to YES.

I can't seem to find anything in the BIOS about Plug and Play O/S. The is another boot utility (access just before the Win splash screen appears) which gives an option to select PNP/BSS boot?
Here's how the IRQ's are set at the last boot:
0 System timer
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
2 Programmable interrupt controller
3 (free)
4 Communications Port (COM1)
5 Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
5 Avance AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller
5 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
6 Standard Floppy Disk Controller
7 ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
8 System CMOS/real time clock
9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus
10 VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
10 VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
10 Intel HaM Data Fax Voice
10 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
11 S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR
11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
12 Microsoft PS/2 Port Mouse
13 Numeric data processor
14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
14 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
15 Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)
15 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE ControllerAlso, I'm now finding that the system will hang on thew shutdown splash screen ?

The utiliy I mentioned is called Realtek Boot Agent.
The option I was referring to is:
BOOT ORDER - with the following options:
Int 18h
Int 19h
PnP/BEV(BBS)
Rom Disabled(This may make a litle more sense then "PNP/BSS BOOT" ??????)
Thanks again !
