I'm running W-98 on an AMD K6-2 350 with a VideoLogic GrafixStar 450 video card (S3 Virge DX[375] chipset) and an A3D (AU8820) Sound card. Everything works great until I try to play music CDs with the CDPLAYER.exe program or the player software that came with the sound card, as soon as I access the player the system completely freezes. I've gone through the Help programs on both W-98 and at the Microsoft site to no avail. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I've fixed the problem. If anyone is having a simular problem turn off the DMA within the Device Manager of the CD ROM.

I recently experienced a similar problem after loading an Iomega internal ZIP ATAPI device. For some reason, adding a REM statement in front of the CD driver statements in autoexec.bat and config.sys got the device working. It didn't solve all my problems, but the CD player is working again. Any advice on the ZIP IDE atapi's would be appreciated.
