Hi,
I am hoping someone can give me some advice. I just got a computer from a friend. There problem that became apparent while trying to connect to the internet. I am unable to completely connect. I replaced the modem, but the problem is in the "system board extension for pnp bios".Under the device manager(win95), there is a exclamation point at this device. There is no conflicting devices listed, but the error code i get is code 15. Does anyone have any advice, (not too complicated, I'm a beginnger!!), on how to resolve this?

First remove the item in device manager and reboot. Perhaps it will setup correctly then. Otherwise your motherboard is probably too new for win 95 to have the correct driver or to configure it correctly. Check their web site for a patch or win95 drivers.

If you can post the manufacturer, model # and if applicable, the model version, I'll check for you.

That would be great! I don't really know much about computers.I don't even know if this is the right info! Processor= GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 1 214.74M
BIOS= American Megatrends 05/16/96.
If this isn't right, let me know how to find it. Thanks

When you boot up there should be a bios string consisting of a bunch of letters and numbers at the bottom of your screen. You may have to push the pause/break button to keep it on the screen long enough to write down. Post the bios string and we should be able to identify the manufacturer and possibly the model.

Jody, I experienced the say type of problem with the computer in work and it had a virus. Each time you try to connect to the internet you would get an error message and when you closed the error box it would disconnect you from the internet service provider. Check to make sure you don't have that virus first before you go adjusting your system bios.

Checking for a virus is a good idea. If that doesn't work, the numbers I'm talking about should be on the bottom of the screen while the computer is doing the memory check and looking for drives. There should be as many as 30 or 40 digits.
