Hi there!
I've recently installed a copy of Norton firewall and utilities. When i first installed the firewall i accidently overwrote a read only file.
At the time nothing happened. So then I began to install norton utilities. Near the end of the installation the whole computer just froze so I decided to switch it off and restart it.
During start up two messages appear.
'SYSDOC 32.exe A device attached to the system is not functioning'
and the other sayaing;
'Error SYSDOC32.exe File is linked to the missing export MSVCRT.DLL:_c NThrowException'
I'm sure one of this missing files has something to do with the 'Norton utilities' program.

These messages come up everytime i start my computer. Please can anyone help or give me some advice. I'd be really grateful for any sort of help. Thanks!

Try running Dr. Watson from your help menu. It will tell you where your conflict is, maybe.

Hi there!
Thanks for all the advice you gave i'm really grateful, however the problem is still there. I've tried searching in the recycle bin for the missing files but to no luck. I've tried to uninstall 'Norton utilities'. But now i can't even do that. a message says something is currupt with the uninstall wizard.
I hope theres still a glimmer of hope in fixing this problem!

Hi there!
Thanks for the advice, I tried them all but to no such luck.
I've checked in the Recycle bin but cannot find the missing exports.
I tried to unistall 'Norton Utilities' altogether but cannot even do that. A message says that something is currupt with the unistall wizard.
So now i'm stuck with it. The tools within Norton Utilities work apart from the one which needs that missing export.
Can anyone offer some more advice on this situation. I'd be really really really grateful.
thanks!

John, Check out the Manual Uninstall Norton link under my name(Homepage:). Maybe #1 unde Solution would solve the problem and let you uninstall Norton Utilities thru the ADD/REMOVE Programs. If not you may have to go thru the complete manual uninstallation process. I'm assuming you have Norton Utilities 2002 and Windows 95/98/98SE/ME. I hope this helps.
