I have a friend with windows 98 on his computer gets error and cannot get into safe mode or normal mode to back up files
explorer has caused an invalid page fault in module explorer.exe

I am pretty sure that error is caused by Internet Explorer.Try deleting all it's files from DOS(or try this).Once I tried to reinstall Windows and I got that error I pressed CTRL +ESC after clicking OK to the message and it let me into Windows file manager from there I was able to run Ieradicator from www.pclite.com then I sucessfully reinstalled Windows without losing any files>Hope it works for you.

Explorer is not the same thing as Internet Explorer!

Seems like very bad advice to me.

Just for future info:

The reason why the webmaster asks you to fill in details of the OS, CPU & RAM is so that the respondees can give the most appropriate help. It is therefore best to post the spec of the machine that is in trouble, not your own.

Accurate specs are good to have - that's what that feature's for.

Apologies to Jim - but wholesale deletion of files from DOS can lead to further problems.

An informative link - a rollback with scanreg does seem like a good idea.
