Between XP and W2k, no problem (I've done it). They both use the pagefile.sys filename. Win98 on the other hand uses Win386.swp, so you can't share the swap file with XP/W2k.

You can share the Swapfile between Win98, Win 2000 and Win XP.
Set the 2K and XP to use the same Swapfile.
In Win98 open C:\Windows\System.ini and under the heading [386Enh] add the following PagingDrive=x PagingFile=xx where X is the Drive you wish to use and (xx) is the name usually Pagefile.sys.
You can also set MinPagingFileSize=x. MaxPagingFileSize=x. However it is not recommend setting the "MaxPagingFileSize" as it may lead to "Out of Memory" errors

Chappie,
I'd tried that with NT4 years ago (don't remember which SP I was at). Didn't work well for me (I forget what the exact problem was [something to do with the pagefile.sys format?] or which OS had it) so that's why I didn't suggest your idea. Hopefully your suggestion works better with the newer W2k and XP.

Works perfectly for me. At the present only sharing between 98 and XP, but prior to last week I was sharing the swapfile with 98, 2000 and XP.

Must have been either me or NT than. Thanks for the info. I always appreciate using less disk space for what is normally wasted space.
