What is svc service? I continue to get an svcinit.exe error upon startup, but can't find anything about this annoying message. I close the error message and can continue on as if nothing has happened. I haven't found any of my programs that are having problems from the error. Oh yeah. msconfig shows SVC service loading at startup. When I uncheck it, it still seems to want to load because I still get the error message.

This is not much help, but ... Svcinit.exe does not appear to be a Win9X or Internet Explorer file.

Is your antivirus up to date? Did you run Spybot, and Ad-aware recently?

I ran ad-aware recently. Didn't find anything. I haven't tried spybot.

Try Spybot. I use both of them, and always there is something what isn't catched by one, but is by second one.

Open win.ini and put a semicolon (;) infront of the line run=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\svcinit.exe so it should look like this.. ;run=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\svcinit.exe the semicolon will cancel out that line.
