Hi, my machine is Dell Dimensions XPS M200s, 4.3GB,64RAM,NVIDIA Riva 128,Creative SoundBlaster,48X Memorex CDROM. It crashed last night and I've been trying to reinstall my Win98 back. I've done repartitioning and reformatting. However the messsage "SUWIN caused General Protection Fault... KERNEL386.exe... 000:0f0..." keeps coming out whenever it started to copy files from CD to HD (after the startup disk creation step). Is there anybody that can help me with this problem?
There seem to be a number of approaches to this error--from rectifying the Bios date to modifying config.sys in the boot disk to disabling external L2 cache during setup.
Please post back with what (hopefully) works for you...

My problems get even worse... Now the startup disk won't recognize the CDROM drive. It just froze like that... :( When I change the CPU speed to COMPATIBLE instead of 200MHZ, it'll read the CDROM and install Win98 veryyyy... slowly. It took me 3 hours just to install it. Any other ideas?

I'm not clear from your post exactly where you're at here--if you managed a successful install without errors, however slow, restore what ever changes you made to get back up to speed.
