IT'S THE MEMORY!!! I changed out the older 66mhz 168pin for a newer pc100, and the problem is gone!!!! 6 hours later damn it. I wish someone had posted this all over, like I'm going to do now for the next guy...
Installing right now smooth as butter!

Thanx for the lead. But I've slightly different message "SUWIN caused a General
Protection Fault in module KRNL386.exe at 0001:4DE7" while installing Win98 on my P133
Notebook computer with 48MB RAM/1.4 GB H/D"
Is it memory problem too?

I have the same gpf at0001:4DE7 while installing win95 on a P133 notebook 16M/1G
I have tried disabling L2 cache, booting from dos floppy, setup /is /c
nothing works, it stops like clockwork while copying the files at the 27% mark.
It's driving me crazy.

MSGSRV32 caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.exe at 0001:00005b52.

If some programs else caused error to KRNL386, other than SUWIN, is it possible to be a RAM problem too?

I mean, you guys got the same message at the same addr?

The answer, indeed, lies with memory, and my fooling with problem suggests that a computer - today - can not have memory of different types. IE: don't mix single sided memory modules with double sided memory modules (mm). Also be sure no PC100 mixed with PC133s and try to stay with the size throughout, ie: 3 banks 64M mm(=192M), or 2 banks 128M mm(=256M) but no 64M mm mixed with 128M mm.

Break these rules and you are PLAYING WITH FIRE and expect to burn yourself - LOTS!

I had that error message also, but my friend said that two main reasons causes Suwin errors. First one is as you know RAM,
unfortunately I couldn't remember the second (silly) Does anyone know the second one. My problem is with second one :(

I have had many experiences with SUWIN errors, if you find that the RAM is not the culprit, Video cards cause the same thing, especially with the Cyrix chip. The best video chipset to use with any cyrix chip is the S3 Virge.
