Stupid Windows media player 7

Whe i use windows media player to play big files, either the sound goes quicker then the video, or when playing a flashing red screen flashes (repeatedly). I dont know if its my computer, but if it isnt can someone please help me?

Ummm.... also when i convert this avi file to mpeg it works fine. But the size is way to big for my computer.

Can depend on the format. It can also depend on how much processing is required to uncompress the file.
In my machine [333/196] a one hr segment compressed to 360 MB using xvid format - after all the codec and different players - would only play with trusty old Mplayer2.exe

Displaying an mpeg file needs a faster machine than displaying an AVI file. This is because the compression.

Woah, thx for the info. I tried the original wmp 6.4 and tweaked with the settings. It turned out when i went to options and lowered the hardware acceleration on the video section, the flashing screen stopped. But the video was still slow. I just need aomething to make the video go fast. Thx!
