1. Could someone explain why pc1 [ie 5.00.2614.3500] fails to read an .mht
web file that has been copied from pc2 [ie 5.00.2919.6307] and instead, it
returns: "The Page Cannot Be Displayed".2. From the same computer, why opera 6.03 cannot display properly an .mht
web file that has been saved by the default browser ie 5.01?Shayto

Short answer, I don't know.
You could try this work-around to get either IE or Opera to open it (but not both):
Left click and highlight a file with the .mht extension.
Hold Shift down then right click the file.
In the box that arrives ensure that the check box "always use this program....etc" is left unchecked (you are only trying it).
Find the .exe file for the required browser (eg for IE it is iexplore.exe) - use "Other" button if necessary.
If it works and you are happy with the results then repeat the process, this time putting a check mark in "always use this program...etc"
