I have a piece of crap for my work computer. It used to be okay but got killed by a virus in 2001. Our tech support had to reformat the hard-drive and since then it has been very slow, locks up, and needs restarted many times a day. I work for a non-profit human service agency and so they won't spring for a new one. Is there anything I can do to help speed it up? Any miracle download out there?

Appreciate any help.

See if you can acquire another 32 Meg of RAM (or 64) for that computer. I would think that would sure make a difference. Even if has to come out of your own pocket. 32 Meg of RAM would be pretty cheap, around $20, which would be worth it considering the headaches of a slow computer. You don't say what operating system you are using. If it's Windows 98, then I will definitely stick to my above statement. 95 can be quite flaky, though, and the memory upgrade may only be a partial solution. Good luck.
