The display on my computer is usually set on 24 bit "true colour".After adjusting screen size and resolution and restarting my computer I was greeted with a black screen.By starting in safe mode I was able to restart in normal mode with 16 colours. However on returning to the drop down box to reset the 24 bit colour I realized that the only option present is 16 colours. I don't know if the problem may have something to do with settings on the SiS 6326 Video card or DA-456 monitor. Please, help me!

Hi James: In safe mode none of your drivers are loaded. In other words,Your Video card is
turned off.Windows does this to make it easier to perform diagnostics on your computer. Why did you change the settings on your PC ? Were you trying to increase the resolution ? I don't know the statistics of your video card , but I suspect if you just set the controls back the way they were everything will work fine.If they don't the drivers (files)might be corrupted. If you have the drivers just simply reinstall them.If not then go to the manufactuers home page and download the files.Without knowing anything about your PC or operating system,I've run out of ideas (:>

Hello Bud:

I've had the same problem when I switched monitors in Safe Mode. Windows was stuck in 16 colors. And I have the same video card as you (SiS 6326 AGP Rev H0 8 megs)

The solution is to REINSTALL your SiS adapter driver. After you reinstall those drivers from your cd rom you'll be able to change the color and screen resolution.

Hope you can do it ... see ya !

Thanks for your suggestions guys!I am going to try them now.Bud, the OS is Windows 98 and the resolution and screen size are set at the original 640x480 (in fact it cannot be changed since the slider bar that one would usually drag to effect the change will not move now).Initially after performing changes in safe mode and returning to normal mode the 256 colour option was available but when I selected this and restarted the computer it started with 16 colours and all other colour options had vanished! T computer has a Pentium II processor 64 MB of RAM and runs at 300 MHZ.I have been to the SiS website, can I be certain that the driver there will be compatible with my system. As for why I changed the screen size and resolution in the first place - let's just say I wish I had not.(Kuriosity killed the kat eh!)

First of all the SiS boards really SUCK @@@..!!! But hey you didnt hear it from me(grinning) The SiS wen site should have the correct drivers for your computer. If its running win98 then look for the driver compatble looking like i386.exe or something like that. also try looking at
www.winfiles.com
www.download.com
www.driverguide.com

These sites should help you too..

Hi,

Mine is a Pentium III, 450Mhz, 64MB RAM with SIS 6326 AGP, Rev HO,8MB with software version 4.0. There is no problem in running 24 or 16 true colour with 600X800 to 1280X1024 resolution. However, my screen goes black when changing to 640X480 resolution or running games requiring 256 colour mode. This problem was not there initially.

Please reply what can be done.
