At startup there is a selection of 2 boots up OSs. Windows Professional Setup or Microsoft Windows. I want to delete the windows professional setup off the list and start normally at Windows 98 se. How?
Thank you for your help.

From the Windows Registry Guide 2003:
Change the Default Operating System (Windows NT/2000/XP)
Configuration Files > BOOT.INIThis setting in the BOOT.INI file controls which operating system the NT Boot Loader launches by default if none is selected.
Change the attributes for BOOT.INI so it is not 'Read Only', BOOT.INI is found in the root directory of the first partition. Then open the file using Notepad or another text editor (not Microsoft Word or any word processor).
Under the [boot loader] section change the 'default=' option to one of the operating systems listed under the [operating systems] section that you wish to use as the default.
For example, to load Windows NT from the first partition on the first IDE hard drive in the /WINNT directory the option would look like:
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
It's a good day when you learn something

Hi Chris, Dan, hi everybody
To add to Dan's post below is shown the contents of the Boot.ini for my multi-boot computer.
By default it selects Windows 98 and gives me 30 seconds to decide which Operating System I want to load.__Boot.ini_________________________________
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=C:\
[operating systems]
C:\="Microsoft Windows 98"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WIN2K="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINXP="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
___________________________________________For readability here I have entered a blank line between each single line.
Thus multi(0)... .../fastdetect is one line in Boot.iniBest Regards and Wishes,
