Standby; power management

If one sets Power Management so as to shut off the hard drive and the monitor after a certain period, then what is there, besides those things, to go on "standby" ? Would not the disk and monitor cover most of your power consumption?

Yeah, pretty much.

CPU idling isn't such a bad idea either.

I don't see "CPU idling" in "Power Management."

Is that available somewhere else, or is that what Standby DOES?
