When you attempt to put Windows 98 in Standby mode by clicking Start, clicking Shut Down, clicking Stand By, and then clicking OK, Windows 98 may not go into Standby mode. If Windows 98 does go into Standby mode, you are unable to resume from Standby mode.
This is one of the problems with Windows M$ has never addressed. The vast majority of Win98 ans Win98SE users never use standby mode for just this reason. This also applies the the standby mode one can select in Power Management Properties.
Summary: Does anybody know why a computer would freeze up when the compuetr goes into standby mode? Win 98 SE....... Once the HD shuts down it takes rebooting the system to get it out of stand-by mode...... ...
