Hi there. I just got a new motherboard & processor & even before doing that, i kept getting a stack dump error. I'd still be able to do things, but there would be a link to put my desktop back the way it was. It does it whenever it feels like it, doing whatever. The last one I got I copied the exact details:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:029832dc.

The actual error is "EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault".

The stack dump is a result of the above error.

Sorry, don't have a real fix for you. That problem sometimes fixes itself in time. You could also try booting up in safe mode and then booting up normally.

If you don't get a fix from anyone, a 'Repair' install might do the trick.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

I'll take a guess at it! That would be the active destop playing up. Personally I prefer to leave it turned off.

There's slight chance it might be a registry issue so scanreg /fix or scanreg /restore might be worth a shot.

scanreg /fix can be run at any time and does not affect your installed state.

With scanreg /restore you'd need to have some idea when this started happening so that your could restore the latest registry before that (you will lose any changes made since then).

Both are run by Restarting in MS-DOS mode and, as always, you need to hit Return or Enter after the commands.

Type exit (Return) to restart Windows.
