...Blocked my acsess to the scanner, printer, sound card, and almost all of my files. It hasnt affected any programs though. I was wondering if I could go to MS DOS and type in
deltree c:\
and hit enter to clear everything on my C drive including the spyware?
Thanks,
Gordo 8500

Have a feeling that if you deltree C:\, you will be posting from a different computer!!
Recommend the following:
Download and run Spybot Search and Destroy:
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.phpDownload and run AdAware:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/Next, download and run HijackThis!
Follow the instructions on the following site: http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/Post the HijackThis! Log.
If you have done all of the above already, might want to give CWShredder a whirl. It is found Here
Post a HijackThis! log afterwards.

Oh yea. I bought a $90 tech support card for 1 hour of time on Gateway. They said they could fix it by doing something over the internet. Do you know of what they would be doing or if you know of how to do that?
Thanks,
Gordo 8500

Since you are ready to delete everythig in your C: drive why not Reformat & Reinstall everything. Make sure you have all necessary drivers for devices like Video Card, Sound Card, Modem, LAN card and attached devices like Printer, Scanner, WebCam etc saved in easiliy retrievable media BEFORE Formatting or even Deleting your C:drive!
Saving the correct Settings of DUN, Email etc and Login Names & Passwords for various sites required for the fresh start are important consideration often overlooked during Reformat.
Unless you have the correct Boot Disk proven capable of accessing the CD-ROM drive, the Windows 98 CD with Product Key, and other software and their Product Keys, DO NOT attempt to Reformat!

If it is a Gateway PC and you can let them Access your PC remotely with a softawre, they can assist you in Software troubleshoot. I do this often for my friends in diffent Cities /States. You need to trust them with your PC as they do a Virtual hands on troubleshoot with your Files and folders and Registry etc. You too will be involved in this combined troubleshoot.
If I were you, I will opt for that before trying other more drastic measures like Reformat.

Re your #2.
Did you try "all" of those listed by FZWG in #1 ?
He also asked you to post "Hijack This" log so that someone on here could try and spot the culprit and sort it out for you.
To me it seems worth one more stab. But if you are determined to take the sledge hammer I would go for reformat. Make sure you have all your drivers to hand, video, modem, sound and so on. With either format or deltree your HD will be totally emptied.
Derek
