I have an HP 9600 C, with Win 98 Se, 128 mb of Ram, DVD and CD+RW. This was running smoothly until we moved. All of the sudden, the sucker starts rebooting at random times. It has rebooted, for example, during Outlook 2000 sessions, surfing the net, and a game of Diamond Mine.

The only recent changes I have made with this system is to add Road Runner, Zone Alarm and Norton Antivirus 2002.

Here's what I've tried so far: Scan disk, defrag, Virus scan, Checked to make sure everything was seated and connected correctly. (It was.)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for the info DW.

I'll check that out. It runs so quietly that I swear it's dead but it's purring like a cat!

Just to cover the bases, anyone else have any suggestions?

I agree with DW. If your CPU fan quit, it might run real quiet (purring like a cat)
and real hot and a hot CPU is very flaky.

Another thing that might cause this would be a bad PSU or some software corruption.
