I am stuck at the splash screen for windows. It won't go past it. Anyone know what to do? It said earlier that the win.com file was missing, so I copied it from d at the c prompt. Now, it is stuck...anyone know what to do?

Hi, what version of Windows are you using and was the win.com you copied back the correct version for what you are running?

Is it possible to start in 'Safe Mode'

If you can do a Logged Startup, examining the file C:\Bootlog.txt will show where the system is hanging.

if you can, get a copy of "Bootlog Analyser" from http://www.vision4.co.uk/vision4 or do a search on 'Google'

TY it is win98se. It is going now, due to a program norton ghost that came with it, but it took out the personal stuff like outlook addresses, ect.
