Hi,
Over the course of my crusade to rid my computer of viruses and spyware I have found these forums very usefull.
I noticed a hidden file in C\WINDOWS\TASKS folder called SA.DAT When I open it with wordpad I see like 6 square boxes encrypted most likely. I typed sa/dat into google and couple of the hits was "spector spyware" it takes screen shots every second so you can "tape" your computer. But their Pest Patrol program that they said would find and kill it DIDNT FIND A SINGLE THING!
I did a manual search for all the files it says it creates, many of them came up but were created back in 1999 when the computer was bought and the sa.dat was created just last night so that cant be it. My gramma also has the exact same thing on her computer same sa.dat and it also says it was created last night. I also noticed that my index.dat file in my cookies was created last night also, but I cant delete or do anything to it because access is denied its in use or something it says.
Thank you for your time.
I don't check forums much so please just E-Mail me: CoolRaptor2001@hotmail.com

First of all, this is a FORUM, so the request to get your answers by email because "I don't check forums much so please just E-Mail me" is not appropriate.

The Spector you speak of applies to WinNT.

A "6-byte" spyware able to "take screen shots every second"????????

Maybe check more PCs, besides yours and Mom's, and you will find "sa.dat" to be pretty common.

No, I am not emailing this.

Sorry, we forgot to mention that people who are too lazy to come back and check for responses, do not get much help.

I added this page to fav. list so I can check it now. The reason why I asked you to e-mail is because I thought I would forget the address, but then I figured out favorite list heh.
Sorry if I sounded rude or lazy, but thanks for your replys.
I did just ask my uncle and his computer has lots of sa.dat but they were created back in 97 when his computer was built.
So do you think its anything serious?
I tried deleting and re-naming it but it just makes new copy on startup.
Thanks againf ro your help, dont reply if you dont want to.
