Go to Multi-media in control panel and place check mark in "show volume control on task bar".

OK, if it's not there, go to add/remove programs and Windows setup. Click on Multimedia, then "details" and make sure there is a check mark in "volume control".

Dave... I did what you said go to add & remove clicked on windows setup clicked on multimedia then Details and made sure the checkmark was in- Volume control. I even shut the pc down and restarted it but there are no speaker Icon on the bottom right of the taskbar any more Ideas ? thank you Ernie...

Try removing the check mark. Click "apply". Restart your computer and add it again. Also, install the latest driver for your sound card. Mesich posted a link with graphics. Post back.
Summary: There is no speaker icon,in the rh corner of my taskbar.The area,where I have to check to put the spkr icon in the taskbar,in multimedia is greyed out!What's wrong? Hope some-one can help me.(OS win 9...
Summary: My speaker icon has gone missing from the taskbar. I have gone into the multimedia section of control panel and the tick section is blanked out. The tick is in the box, but I am unable to do anything....
