sound problems

i asked for help to fix video problems and i went to start settings control panel add remove programs then unselected mulitmedia then reselected it, i dont hace a windows cd so i skiped the steps, i can hear sound files fine but i cannot control my volume unless i do it from my keybord because there is no volume control, also i can talking into my mic and hear it but it wont let me voice chat, any one know how to fix it?

im not using it illegaly it was on my computer when i bought it, i just dont know where the cd it

Hi, Look in C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS and you might find a full copy of the windows that came on your computer. Many companies put it there for ease of use. When you go to add components and it asks for the CD just redirect it to this folder for the necessary files for it to complete the installation. James
