Good Afternoon,
I have a problem with my computer and its been driving me nuts, when i run an application or i play music it will work for a given amount of time say 5-7 minutes and then i get this ear shattering static and its just beyond static. ---Anyway-.. Like i was saying i dont know what makes it does it but if im playing a game or somethign or listening to music i have to restart the program in order to have sound again. Now it could be the sound card but i dont exactly know where that is andi dont think i touched it when installing ram because it was doing it prior to that

I've had that problem before. Do you have a free PCI slot. (Or not if you have a sound card that uses a PCI slot.)

Go out or on Ebay and Buy a Sound Blaster card. If it doesn't have Sound Blaster in the title or on the box, DO NOT BUY.

A SOund Blaster 16 (Cheapest)is about 10 on eBay and 20-30 in stores. Trust me, not only the static will go but it will sound better.
