Sound not working in most of computer

I am using the Sound Blaster 24 sound card and use Cubase LE. No problems with the sound for any of my computer programs or computer sounds. I tried working with the Midi in Cubase and now I have no sound in anything except Cubase. No sound through Computer alerts, Media Player, etc.

Please help as I am a composer and need to use the other programs along with Cubase for my songs.

Your OS is stated as Windows XP but your post appears in Win95/98 section.

You haven't supplied enough information.
There are lots of different Sound Blaster 24 sound card models, and there are USB and external versions too (which are not cards).
What model do you have?
Are you SURE it supports MIDI?
Not all sound cards support MIDI.
