Does anyone know what i can do? I asked my friend who gave me this computer if he had the disk and he said so, he also doesnt know much about this computer himself anymore...
Sorry to bother you guys once again!

You need to know the manufacturer of your sound card. Download iether or both of these
1. Belarc from
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and/or
2. Aida32 from
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html
Run one of them - they will give you the information under "MultiMedia". Then go to the manufacturer's web site and download the correct Win98 drivers - remember where you put them: write it down if necessary!
Then open Control Panel, go into Device Manager and scroll down to the Sound section. Your sound card probably has a yellow exclamation mark against it - RIGHT click on it and select Update Driver and LEFT click on that. Follow the on screen instructions and tell it to look in wherever you saved it.

I warned you about getting all the drivers ready in advance! Some people just never listen....
Win98 & WinME drivers are *usually* interchangeable.

..."well when it was installed by my uncle he told me a sight where i could download my sound driver program..."
What's the link|address|site, he told you. And by chance, what did he say it was? The soundcard, that is... Any chance this is name brand (dell, hp, gateway, ect.) If it is, what manufac&model #

Well Im Running a "Via AC'97 Audio Controller(WDM)" Sound card. When i go look at it in my device manager its under the "Sound, video and game controllers" Theres no yellow "!" tho but the only sounds my computer makes is that anoying "Dee Doo Dee Doo" If you know what i mean. the repetetive beeping sound i guess you could call it. Im currently looking for the driver on the VIA site.

Ugh, i cant do this. I whent to the site but no luck. I dont know what im looking for in those files and when i downloaded this one that said it was for windows 98 it said its not compatible with my OS! In the last post i gave my audio card out. If it isnt to much of a hastle could someone find the right place to get the driver and send me a link or something? Im sorry for all the trouble im causeing.
Thanks once again....

If it is VIA go to the manufacturers website, is it not about time you stopped whinning, maybe using pirated software is not good after all ?
http://www.via.com.tw

Ive looked over the site and i cannot find my driver, that is why i had hope that someone may have looked it up for me and had givin me an exact link. I tried installing there Envy24 Family one and it says it doesnt work with this OS for some reason. Im stuck at this point and I really am sorry for the trouble. Anyways ide like to thank you guys for the help that you have givin me with my problems.
For the reference, The person that reinstalled Windows with the 98 disk is the brother that formats all the family comps. He used the disk that came with this computer because there all running there new computers on XP.

The wrong driver is worse than no driver. Maybe your uncle should be called since he may know how to do this?

My uncle really doesnt know much about this computer. I called him after getting a little frustrated and he told me to go to this site and download this 4 in 1 driver. I did that and installed it but by then he was gone eating dinner. Ive used the programs to check to make sure that it was my soundcard. If you like i can give you all the details i can find about it for you and display it.
I have a little question, Is there a way i can get around having the Windows 98 SE CD? When this computer was reinstalled i used the original disk that was for this computer. But because i just bought the computer from my friend they didnt give me the disk. I would call him up and ask if i could borrow the disk but his family whent on a month vacation to other parts of there family.

You've got a multitude of problems, not the least of which is you need a legal Windows CD or the Microsoft Police will come get you.
