I am trying to install a new sound card there is no card in the pc now when i open the pc up and plug in the new card and boot up the computer doesnot say anything about finding new hard ware any ideas here . thanks

Is the sound card inserted securely and screwed in tight enough? Try installing the drivers for it anyway and see if it will install.

If it's an old NON plug and play card it will not be detected. You can try using the Control Panel/Add New Hardware option.

Also go to device manager in system in control and see if it's identified there but accompanied with a yellow ! or ?

If windows finds a new device but no drivers are loaded for it on the initial boot, it'll list it in device manager and won't 're-find' it when rebooting.

the card is in secure and no it doesnot show up in device manager. it is not a old card it is a hercules 4.0. do i have toconnect the interface cable to the mother board .there is no place for one on the
card
