Hi! I have a Creative Sound Blaster 16 sound card- one of the older ones. When trying to load the drivers that used to always work before i installed my scanner i had no problem using the windows 98 disk and it would load fine. Now when i try to load the drivers i find this problem:

The following files are missing and nowhere to be found they need to have the following path

C:\Windows\system\cifman.crl (or X)

Here is a list of the missing files:

cifman.crl
cifman.dll
cspman.dll
sb16.vxd
sb16snd.drv
sbfm.drv
wfm0200.acv
wfm0200a.csp
wfm0201.acv
wfm0201a.csp
wfm0202.acv
wfm0202a.csp
wfm0203.acv
wfm0203a.csp

can anyone help me with this problem? Where do I find these files and can I just copy them into the proper directory myself to get the sound card to work?

It keeps saying there is a problem with a driver conflict but the computer is not being specific and the scanner works perfectly.

Thank you very much. Please email the reply to me if possible i don't get to check this site as often as i'd like.

uninstall the scanner.
right click My Computer, select Properties.
in Device Manager, remove the scanner and the sound card.
shut down.
disconnect the scanner and reboot.
Windows should detect the sound card and install the drivers or prompt you for them.
if it doesn't detect the card, go Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add New Hardware
and have it display a list of devices to choose from.
if your card is not there, click the Have Disk button and insert your driver disk.
the first step is getting the sound card to work, then you can try to install the scanner.

The problem is:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sb16snd.drv requires a newer version of Creative Interface Manager. Please install the latest version of CIFMAN.DLL in the windows system directory.

What can I do?
Please email the reply to me

if it is the cifman.crl file format your hard drive & reinstall the drive. this will solve the headache and everything will be working. deleting will not solve the problem
