A very nasty one to remove - antivirus isn't exactly the route to take but you will need to download a few tools.

Maybe you've heard of floppy disks? CD-R?

How do you propose to repair your machine without the necessary software - concentration & stern looks?

It is a complicated pest to remove - if you're stuck on the part where you download and install the tools, I would suggest paying someone to fix it for you.

you might try reverting to an earlier version of the registry to see if that will restore some sort of functionality to your severely compromised machine - start in DOS and enter:

scanreg /restore

.. and choose a date prior to your adventure.

Quite possibly your Cd and floppy diffiulties are hardware issues

I think this problem is probably more than you can handle. You better take it in to a shop. Either that, or format and reinstall windows.

Even if you don't remove the files, a scanreg/restore should fix things, assuming you have an available registry that precedes the problem.

A bit more on Smitfraud - I don't think rolling back the registry will fix it, or, at least not for long since it also alters/infects system files.

Neat little walkthrough of the process - be careful where (or how) you browse the internet ; )
