Thanks goes out to jmatt for the following post. My normal defrag takes 45 minutes but again, thanks to jmatt it only took 8 (yes eight) minutes to complete!

There are many fixes for W98 defrag , but the best is to install
Windows ME defrag , very fast . Get it from here .
http://potentproducts.com/download/specials/winme_DEFRAG.EXE
Download it right into your Windows directory. Rename your
current version of DEFRAG.exe to DEFRAG.OLD, then rename
winme_DEFRAG.EXE to DEFRAG.exe ( or whatever the old defrag
was named ) and your done. You can even try it out right away!
