Sleep mode stopped working

Hi, On both my systems, pressing the power button no longer puts them into sleep mode - both used to work though. I have a feeling I probably pressed Yes to the "Do you want to prevent Windows from going into sleep mode in the future" pop-up that would appear sometimes on rebooting after a system lockup. Is thare any way to restore the function? Thanks

This might sound weird, but try going into the device manager and delete the floppy drive, then reboot.
I learned this from a friend who worked for Microsoft.
This would work if Standby was disabled in the shutdown options. I don't know about using the power button, but wouldn't it be a nice easy fix if it works!

Thanks Lisa, that did the trick!
You're right too that it's a weird way to fix the problem. Even odder that Windows automatically restored the floppy's deleted settings upon reboot.

I'm glad it worked!
Windows 98 will automatically reinstall some hardware on a reboot, such as Floppy Drives, CD drives, IDE contollers, etc. I should have mentioned that.
